My Roles

As a Marketing Assistant, I adapted an organic social media strategy for Twitter and Pinterest, facilitated the creation of customer testimonials that would run as advertisements on our social media pages, and created blog content to improve search engine optimization for the website. In addition to these overseeing strategies, I would help with special projects assigned by the CEO and Marketing Director.

As a Social Media Associate, I researched trends and social media analytics to understand successful posts. After completing my certification through Digital Marketer and scoring in the 90th percentile, I created a social media strategy that would engage our followers on social media to convert them to supporters of the Big Barker brand.

Strategies

I created blog posts based on social media posts to continue to engage people with the Big Barker brand. I would use UGC content as well as research for trending keywords to craft blog posts that would increase the organic search.

After determining our target audience was women between the ages of 28-54, I began to identify trends that featured dogs that would lead to high engagement by being active on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. I defined successful posts based on engagement (reactions, comments, and shares) and how they aligned with the Big Barker brand.

After learning about the trends, I would test them out and track their success through analytic platforms. The social media strategy focused on posting news stories about dogs on Twitter, aesthetically pleasing images on Instagram, and engaging posts with more information on Facebook. These posts were determined based on an understanding of platform etiquette and engagement analytics.

In addition to these posts, we posted pictures of dogs on Big Barker beds with customer testimonials, quotes, and dog health posts to establish ourselves as a company that cares for the well-being and health of your dog.

Results & What I Learned

I completed research for SEO pages to increase organic searches, created blog posts to engage our audience with the Big Barker brand, wrote press releases for the UPenn Launch, and maintained a quick (usually under 4 hours) response time for customer questions on social media.

My research, strategy suggestions, and daily management helped grow our Twitter following by 72%, and more than doubled the amount of website traffic received from Pinterest over the first 12 months. I was also responsible for creating a new Facebook page which I grew to over 10,000 followers in just 2 months.

As a Social Media Associate, I learned about social media strategy, the etiquette of each platform, trade shows, recalls, and customer service. As a Marketing Assistant, I learned more about brand strategy, public relations, and content creation in the forms of social media, blogs, and videos.

Abby is an extremely dependable, intelligent, personable, and resourceful individual. She helped manage our company social media accounts with the goals of increasing follower base, growing the engaged audience, and driving traffic to our website. One of her notable achievements was spearheading the re-launch of our brand on Twitter, which increased our follower count by over 10,000 within 12 months. I was always impressed by how self-disciplined Abby is. She worked remotely and set her own schedule while also balancing her school schedule. Never once did she miss a deadline. She would often pro-actively message me with questions, suggestions, or reminders to move a project along! Abby was an important and well-liked member of our team and gets my highest recommendation!
